Dixon and Chimera: Two methods for fast separation of PFC compounds with small chemical shift difference
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Perfluorocarbon (PFC) emulsions have been widely used for cell tracking studies [1,2] and many other biological applications [3]. In contrast to conventional H contrast agents, F markers provide unambiguous signal in vivo due to the low natural abundance of fluorine in living organisms. Furthermore, fluorine markers can possess a unique spectral signal, a further advantage of F MR. Therefore, chemical shift imaging (CSI) methods can be used to distinguish between targets labeled with different fluorine markers. Certain PFC compounds, however, have only a small difference in the chemical shift and thus spectrally selective imaging or standard CSI methods are difficult to apply. This study focuses on two alternative methods to separate PFC compounds with a small chemical shift difference: a TSE sequence based on Dixon's method [4], often used to separate fat from water signal, and a recently presented ssfp Chimera method [5] providing a specific off-resonant behavior.

متن کاملCS-Dixon: Compressed Sensing for Water-Fat Dixon Reconstruction
Introduction: Water-fat separation is of interest in several MRI applications including fat suppression and fat quantification. Chemical shift imaging allows robust water-fat separation [1, 2], however the acquisition of multiple images results in prolonged scan time. Accelerated water-fat separation using compressed sensing (CS) was partly addressed in [3] by considering the separation as a sp...

متن کاملAb Initio Calculation 29Si NMR Chemical Shift Studies on Silicate Species in Aqueous and Gas Phase
Nowadays NMR spectroscopy becomes a powerful tool in chemistry because of the NMR chemical shifts. Hartree–Fock theory and the Gauge-including atomic orbital (GIAO) methods are used in the calculation of 29Si NMR chemical shifts of various silicate species in the silicate solution as initial components for zeolite synthesis both in gas and solution phase. Calculations have been performed at geo...
متن کاملMultiecho dixon fat and water separation method for detecting fibrofatty infiltration in the myocardium.
Conventional approaches for fat and water discrimination based on chemical-shift fat suppression have reduced ability to characterize fatty infiltration due to poor contrast of microscopic fat. The multiecho Dixon approach to water and fat separation has advantages over chemical-shift fat suppression: 1) water and fat images can be acquired in a single breathhold, avoiding misregistration; 2) f...
